This was an email conversation I had with our agency.
"Just out of curiosity...some questions have been floating around our house."
*How long after you receive our paper work from the consulates will it be sent to Guatemala?
~Unanswered
*After our paper work is received in Guatemala what happens?
~You will be processed under the new procedures so the
information I share is all I have at the moment.
You will have to be approved by the Central Authority first
and the CA will provide a certificate for your documents.
*What is your guess of how long we will wait before we are matched?
~We don't know exactly how long yet it will take to get a referral from
the CA in Guatemala
*What happen to the photo listing of babies on the agency web site?
~Under new procedures, photo listings are no longer allowed
*Once we are matched, I have read in the travel packet, that we can send things to our baby. What sort of things do you suggest?
~Families send only token items. We recommend the items fit in a
gallon size baggie.
As you are all aware, the governments in Guatemala and the
United States have been in the process of establishing new
procedures for adoptions between the two countries.
New laws have not been completely established and we are
very hopeful that everything will be resolved
by April 1st, 2008 when the US will become an official
Hague processing country. The reasons we believe this is
simply because Guatemala's new president, President
Alvaro Colom, is pro-adoption, and as of
January 21st, 2008, the Central Authority has already been
established and any files for pre-existing adoptions
will be registered and grandfathered in.

A little humor...
The Miracle of Adoption
"We witness a miracle every time a child enters into life. But those who make their journey home across time and miles, growing within the hearts of those who wait to love them, are carried on the wings of destiny and placed among us by God's very own hands."
